Why you should go

Departure towards Vicenza, city of great artistic and cultural traditions. Meeting with the guide and visit the Teatro Olimpico, which is one of the artistic wonders of Vicenza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This theater represents the most important moment of creativity of Andrea Palladio clearly inspired by the Roman theaters described by Vitruvius. Commissioned in 1580 by the Olympic, its design was begun in the same year, but Palladio did not see the realization by the sudden onset of death. Opened March 3, 1585 with the memorable staging of Sophocles’ Oedipus the King, it is the oldest indoor theater in the world. At the end of the visit the participants will be accompanied to the old town, where they can admire an another architectural marvel, the Palladian Basilica, whose name is inextricably linked Renaissance architect Palladio. Then it will be guaranteed free time for lunch and any other activities. In the early afternoon the participants will be accompanied to Villa Almerico Capra called “La Rotonda”, designed by Andrea Palladio around 1570. “Perhaps never architectural art has reached such a level of” so described magnificence JW Goethe. La Rotonda is not a villa: it is something more. Over the centuries, it was visited by poets and artists, the state rulers and men, scholars and art lovers, travelers and tourists. All La Rotonda donated an unforgettable emotion, a sense of harmony and grace to which one responds with a smile and silence. At the end of the scenic tour participants will be accompanied on the visit of the second and final villa, Villa Valmarana ai Nani, which is even today a beautiful architectural site and art consists of three buildings and a large antique park. The house and the Guest House were painted by Giambattista and Giandomenico Tiepolo, called in 1757 by Giustino Valmarana. The Villa takes its strange name to seventeen statues of stone dwarfs that a they were once scattered in the garden, but now arranged on the boundary wall surrounding the property. Precisely in this regard it binds a curious legend of a dwarf princess who lived secluded in the Villa surrounded by dwrfs. Upon seeing a beautiful prince in the garden, she realized her handicap and threw herself from the tower. The pain the dwarfs felt for the princess transformed them into statues of stone. Expected return in the evening to Piazzale Roma.
